Measuring the Efectiveness of your
Automotive Parts Cleanliness Program
Many of the existing methodologies for automotive part
cleanliness testing provide only one key parameter of
diagnostic information such as bulk particle weight, particle
size or chemical composition. Often one parameter can provide
partial insight into the upstream manufacturing process, but
typically the results are inconclusive. Unclean or contaminated
parts can create field failures.
In this webinar we will discuss the current cleanliness standards
such as ISO 16232 and VDA 19, and discuss the advantages/
disadvantages of current cleanliness testing methods. In
addition, Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM) with Energy
Dispersive X-ray (EDX) will be introduced for evaluating
cleanliness.
Primary topics:
• Review of current cleanliness standards in automotive
• Advantages/Disadvantages of current cleanliness
testing methods
• See how SEM/EDX demonstrates a clear advantage over
optical and gravimetric testing
