After the frst year of production of the 2016 Volt, the Ecotec 1.5-liter engine
(a.k.a., "gas-powered range extender") production will move from Toluca,
Mexico, to Flint, Michigan. This means that the Volt is "Pure Michigan,"
with the fnal assembly being done at the Detroit-Hamtramck Plant and the
lithium-ion battery pack from the Brownstown Battery Assembly Plant.
