Infneon and Global Foundries Going Nano
Infneon Technologies (infneon.com) and Globalfoundries
Inc. (Globalfoundries.com) are thinking big by aiming
small. The two frms have linked up to design and
produce a 40-nanometer embedded fash (e-fash) process
technology for automotive microcontrollers.
ON ELECTRONICS
The companies will focus on advancing Infneon's current
e-fash cell design, while production of the eFlash-based
controllers will take place at diferent Globalfoundries'
sites in Singapore and later in Dresden, Germany.
Production is set for the frst half of 2017.
TI's Faster 'SPIN'
DELTA® protects surfaces.
Texas Instruments' (ti.com)
InstaSPIN-MOTION software
tames (or unleashes, as the
case may be) torque, speed
and motion in various motor
control design applications. The
software package helps systems
designers avoid tedious tuning
processes and limited operating
ranges.
TI promises improved motion
and efciency for advanced
motor control designs in
minutes. InstaSPIN-MOTION
is available on TI's 90 MHz,
32-bit foating point Piccolo
F2806xM microcontrollers.

The system is based on TI's
InstaSPIN™-FOC motor control
solution and designed to
optimize complex motion
sequences such as reducing
tuning to a single parameter
and tracking predetermined
trajectories. Unveiled earlier
this year, the InstaSPINFOC solution integrates the
company's FAST software
sensor for rotor fux
measurement and provides
motor identifcation, automatic
current control tuning and
sensorless feedback.
